ANC election list contradicts promises
I AM flabbergasted by President Cyril Ramaphosa’s circular letter in the newspapers stating why we should vote for an ANC “that will eradicate corruption by setting up the Zondo commission and provide services to all”.
He makes this clarion call after his party has submitted to the electoral committee a list of some candidates with prima facie evidence of reckless and avaricious propensities. When confronted and asked to justify these decisions, ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule arrogantly responds in typical ANC fashion, saying, “people are innocent until proven otherwise by a court of law”.
To this, I want to say to Magashule that ANC membership is no measure of moral rectitude. It is for jurisprudence to decide that. The moral fabric of this nation is in tatters today because of disseminating this belief.
What has happened to Botho (mutual respect and accountability) in the real African sense?
The ANC talks of “The Eye of The Needle”. From this list, it seems the eye of this needle is indeed as wide as the East is from the West. I am a senior citizen of this country and I cannot support Ramaphosa.
He was in the Eskom “war room” with a mandate to fix state-owned enterprises and, in particular, Eskom. Mr President, I listened to you extricating yourself from the mess in Parliament. The truth is you went in there, saw an orgy of malfeasance and recommended that this so-called war room be terminated.
How can I rally to your call when you told us that “you find yourself lucky” because you have past presidents to get advice from? “Abo Nqondonqondo” as you put it? Soon after that we hear about nine wasted years. What a contradiction in terms?
