Readysetglo has to overcome draw

- DAVID THISELTON

THE Turffontein Inside track stages a nine race meeting tomorrow which is competitive and the exotics are probably the best way to play it.

In the first race Readysetglo moved up well over 1 600m last time and was run out of it so should appreciate the step down to 1 450m.

He does have a tough draw to overcome but has S'Manga Khumalo aboard.

Rock Me Twice is a long-striding daughter of Twice Over and stayed on well second time out over 1 200m when finishing 6,90 lengths behind the decent Mill Queen. She might well have benefited from the layoff but has a tough draw of 14 to overcome.

Thandekile stayed on strongly on debut over 1 200m and will relish the step up in trip.

She is well drawn too. However on the downside Ocean's Pride beat her in that aforementioned race and has run below par since then.

Ocean’s Pride

Ocean’s Pride does now get blinkers on and is drawn in pole so could bounce back. The Mike de Kock-trained first-timer Bold Bijou is by Visionaire out of the Grade 1 Garden Province Stakes winner Bold Ellinore so is interesting, although a wide draw makes it tough on debut.

Another interesting first-timer is Winter Sparkles who is by What A Winter out of the four-time winning Modus Vivendi mare from 1 800m to 2 600m Sparkling Saphir who was also Listed placed.

She also has a wide draw to overcome but has in form Chase Maujean up.

In the second race over 1 450m, the first leg of the bipot, Viper Jet was outpaced on debut over 1 160m but flew at the finish and failed by half-a-length to catch Marshall, who by all accounts is well regarded.

Viper Jet is closely in-bred to Jet Master being by Pomodoro out of a Jet Master mare and is the one to beat over a step up in trip he will appreciate.

Mr Mogambo stayed on well in that same 1 160m race and can also be involved here. Eightintheeighth stayed on well over 1 400m on debut for a close third after being slowly away but did make a breathing noise.

He could earn from a good draw. It is hard to ignore the hard knocking Orchid Street over this suitable trip but he does have a tough draw.

Brave Detail also improved last time when stepped down to 1 400m and has a plum draw.

In the first leg of the PA over 1 450m Bien Venue has always looked to have ability and showed it last time in his first start for Paul Peter when second over this course and distance.

He now gets the blinkers on and Warren Kennedy stays aboard so he should be right there from pole position.

Lone Survivor loves the Inside track, having had three wins and two places in five starts here, and from a good draw he can be competitive over a distance he has won over.

He only has a two point raise to over come for his win over 1 600m last time.

Purple Diamond is a Grade 2 winner over this sort of trip and won a nice race over 1 200m last time.

He was raised five points but that is alleviated to some extent by the 1,5kg claim of Kabelo Matsunyane. Kings Archer is suited to this trip and with a 4kg claimer up could be factor as he retains ability at the age of eight and is better drawn than when disappointing last time.

Roll Of Drums

Roll Of Drums went close last time over course and distance and has a fair draw so can also be involved.

In the first leg of the Pick 6 over 1 600m Marshall comes out again after winning on debut over 1 160m.

He has plenty of scope for improvement and should relish the step up in trip so could follow up from pole position in an uninspiring field.

In the fifth race over 1 600m What A Joker should relish the step down in trip after running out of steam last time when trying to run on over 1 800m.

He is drawn in pole and Muzi Yeni stays aboard. Category Four is coming into his own in the typical style of a Twice Over four-year-old and will enjoy the step up to this trip having stayed on over 1 400m last time. There is nothing between him and What A Joker on form but he does have a tricky draw. Prince Jordan could feature if reproducing his winning run over this trip.

In the sixth race over 1 200m the pole position-drawn Star Of Gibraltar could get a tow from the handy to front-running type Ficticious and is the one to beat despite having her first run out of the maidens. Artemisia has the useful 4kg claimer Syster aboard and if reproducing her previous attempt against the girls over this trip she should be involved, although she does have a tough draw.

My Dream Chaser

In the seventh over 1 800m My Dream Chaser has a lot in her favour being drawn well over a suitable trip on a course she has won twice at.

However, it is a wide open fillies and mares handicap and Pilgrim’s Progress, Chariot Of Gold, Eightfold's Lass, Rabia The Rebel and Circle Of Latitude also have to be included.

In the eighth over 1 800m the front-running Big Myth will relish the step up in trip and her low draw will suite her style. My Elusive makes plenty of appeal too as she steps up to a trip she should relish having charged late over 1 600 last time.

Her pedigree also suggests she will prefer this trip. However, she has a tricky draw so it will depend whether she can slot in.

In the last race over 1 800m Wylie Kim is the one to beat. She is drawn well and being by Wylie Hall will not only be improving but should relish the step up to this trip having stayed on over 1 500m last time.

Tartan Dancer will give her plenty to think about.

She is also being drawn well and as a daughter of Ideal World will be improving and will relish the step up in trip having stayed on over 1 500m last time.

Twice As Special can’t be ignored being a hard-knocking sort who should be coming into her own being by Twice Over.
