NELSON MANDELA REMEMBRANCE EVENT
RUNNING FOR MADIBA
WITH one of the country’s biggest social and recreational events, the Mandela Remembrance Walk and Run, now just days away, some of the country’s hottest artists have lined up to entertain the crowds on Sunday.
Thousands of social and professional walkers and runners will again start and finish the event at the Union Buildings this year, with a 5km walk as well as 10km and 21km runs.
The 10km and 21km runs start at the Union Buildings at 7am and the 5km walk starts at the Union Buildings at 10am.
After the event a stellar line-up will entertain participants from midday, including Thebe, Major League DJz, Lady Zamar, Mlindo the Vocalist and DJ Kudz.
This year many of South Africa’s top runners, personalities and athletes – among them musician Kabelo Mabalane, Bafana stars Aaron Mokoena and Siphiwe Tshabalala, television star Andile Gaelisiwe and runners Gerda Steyn and Collen Mulaudzi – will join in the event to ensure Madiba’s memory is kept alive.
The event is hosted by the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Gauteng Provincial Government.
