Pubicly apologises to wife for the hand-holding incident with his co-star, insists nothing happened between them
JUSTIN Timberlake has issued a public apology to his wife of seven years Jessica Biel, almost two weeks after he was caught holding hands with actress Alisha Wainwright.
The 38-year-old father of one blamed alcohol for his “lapse in judgement” while on a night out in New Orleans, but insisted “nothing happened” with his 30-year-old Palmer co-star.
He took to Instagram on Wednesday to “address recent rumours” despite usually remaining silent in “gossip”, noting that the scandal surround the photos is “hurting the people I love”.
“A few weeks ago, I displayed a strong lapse in judgement – but let me be clear – nothing happened between me and my co-star,” Timberlake said of Wainwright.
The singer/actor said he had, “drank way too much that night and I regret my behaviour. I should have known better”.
Timberlake added his behaviour, “is not the example I want to set for my son,” referring to his 4-year-old son Silas, his only child with Biel.
He went on to, “apologies to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be”.
The actor said he was “incredibly proud to be working on Palmer”, the movie he’s been filming in New Orleans with Wainwright when the incident took place.
“Looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it,” Timberlake concluded.
The incident happened on November 21, when Timberlake was spotted holding hands with Wainwright on the balcony at The Absinthe House on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.
The actor, who has been married to Biel since 2012, was not wearing his wedding ring in the photos as he hung out with Wainwright, 30. Timberlake and Wainwright play on-screen lovers in Palmer, which follows an ex-convict who befriends a boy from a troubled home.
Biel has still not yet spoken publicly about the incident involving Timberlake and Wainwright.
Timberlake and Biel started dating in January 2007, shortly after Timberlake broke up with Cameron Diaz, who he had been dating for three years.
The couple were engaged in December 2011 and married in October 2012, with their son Silas born in April 2015.
Wainwright made her feature film debut in 2014’s Just Before I
Go, the directorial debut of Courtney Cox, and she also guest-starred in Perception, Vanity, Switched at Birth,Major Crimes and General Hospital before starring in Disney’s
Star Darlings.
The source added that Justin felt “bad” about the incident and he will “make it up” to his wife.
