Birthday boy, Archie, delights

He’s just turned 1 and he’s already proving to be a handful

-

WRIGGLING on his mother’s lap as she reads him a story, little Archie Mountbatten-Windsor is clearly already proving a handful.

These delightful images of the young royal were posted by the duke and duchess of Sussex yesterday to celebrate their son’s first birthday.

The video shows Meghan, in denim shirt and shorts, laughing as she helps Archie turn the pages of classic children’s tale Duck! Rabbit! while Harry, who was filming, chuckles. Wearing a simple white babygrow, Archie, who has rarely been seen in public, is revealed to have gingery fair hair and looks strikingly like his father did around that age.

“Look Arch,” says Meghan, 38, as she shows him the book.

She giggles and tells her son, who is clearly teething, “Good job!’ as he leafs through it – before deciding to chew on one edge.

Archie makes “dada” noises to the camera, then grizzles impatiently at one point, but smiles when his parents make quacking noises.

Like most babies, his attention quickly drifts and he grabs at another book, out of shot.

“Let’s finish this book first and then we’ll have that book,” Meghan gently chides him, to her husband’s amusement.

Archie twice throws the other book on the floor and looks up at his laughing father. “Uh-oh, what happened?’ Meghan laughs.

“Yay! The end! Bravo!’ Harry, 35, shouts as they reach the conclusion of the story. The video is believed to have been filmed at the couple’s temporary home in Los Angeles, where they moved from Canada in March after quitting royal duties in the UK.

It was posted by Save The Children UK in support of the charity’s Save With Stories campaign, which aims to raise funds for families across the globe struggling as a result of coronavirus.

Archie’s absence from the UK meant other royals wished him many happy returns on social media.
