Number of employers, vacancies more important than the workers

- BRUCE P SAUNDERS |

ON ECONOMICS, this is the way I see it: the economy is built into the bricks and mortar of the country. Imagine the pyramid structure of workers at the bottom, then the medium sector and then the queen at the tip.

The previous economy, prior to the virus, is the datum which needs to be achieved. You might think the bottom rung is important, but what is more important than the workers in the number of employers and vacancies. The unemployed do not count!

More important than the workers are the number of jobs available. If the number of jobs decreases, then the economy goes into a slump, the balance of payments is upset and we have a default to the World Bank or a rise in taxes.

As all figures are gathered through tax, it will take a year to assess, too long for Brexit in any case.
