Hanco uses technology as his muse
Pretoria based singer-songwriter Hanco started singing at a young age.
“The love for music has always been part of my life. We’ve written over a 100 songs and received nominations for the album.”
Hanco grew up listening to a lot of different genres and that is where he gets his inspiration.
“When I listened to the music for the first time I felt free.”
He said his genre was pop with an alternative feel. He studied at the South African Music Institute to hone his song-writing skills.
“I write about all my experiences. That’s how you stay true as an artist as well. Each song is special because it is a part of you. As an artist it is important to own your craft.”
His latest single, She’s So High,
is about a girl he is pursuing.
This is a cover of the track by Tal Bachman.
“It was great for me to be able to record a cover of the classic She’s So High by Tal Bachman and to be able to become a part of a song that I listened to as a child.”
Hanco spoke to The Star about his tech habits.
1. Before you buy a gadget, what are some of the key things that you look for?
How many ways it can be used and probably if it could do what I am buying it for.
2. How do you use technology to enhance your music?
Well, these days it helps us as musicians a lot, being able to just about use or get any sound we want in the track or even just to get inspired by other artists is just a search away.
3. If you could come up with an app for Africans, what would it be called and what would it do?
I would create an app where you gain points by just living. The more adventurous you are the more points you get and the more you travel the more points you get. I feel like that would teach us more about different places and cultures we never knew about.
4. How do you interact with your followers on social media?
Not by just posting, but always trying to reply to messages as far as I can. They mean the world!
