Seeking clarity on the effect of decolonisation on education

-

DECOLONISATION is defined as the process of removing colonising processes in the educational context. Phew! I find it difficult to comprehend what this is about.

The concept of education is foreign to us – it came with the colonisers.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Textbooks are written in English or Afrikaans. Interestingly, I learnt in a newspaper recently that the Education Department might allow some exams to be written in the mother tongue.

Our children are heading for tough times, and I hope we will be able to develop industries that will provide employment, for all who finish school, under these decolonised conditions.

If anybody can provide clarity on this matter, that would be appreciated
