MUSIC powerhouse Pilani Bubu has hit the ten-year mark since she introduced herself to the entertainment industry and continues to bloom in her journey of telling stories in multidisciplinary mediums.

The singer-songwriter, poet, and TV presenter prides herself in writing about her life experiences so that people can resonate with them and to positively impact their lives.

With her multi-professions, she also believes in sending a message by colouring it in something deeper and meaningful. A message that might change someone's life.

If any word could describe the music sensation it would be “a veritable jack of all trades” as she manages to balance all her crafts.

The Hopes Springing High smash hit maker delved into a conversation with The Star about the inspiration behind her work.

“As I navigate my life, I am always writing about how I feel, how I am finding my passion, how I am exploring it whether how difficult or how joyful it is.

“I think what I am passionate about in the arts is articulating stories in multidisciplinary ways. It keeps me excited that there is a visual story, a poetic, a musical story.

“My music is inspired either by what I have written in my journal, a poem I wrote, or how I am downloading something that has happened in my life, about who I am and my identity.”

The indelible storyteller also shared details about her latest EP titled, Lockdown Love Story.

“Lockdown Love Story is a big reason why I collaborated with a lot of people because love is shared.

“Lockdown has been about this time when people were apart. I really wanted to bring people together in this post-pandemic mood.

“Lockdown Love Story is also about my reflection of what happened with me in lockdown and all the self-love and creating but also the love I gave intimately to someone else. And hopefully, through my story, you can resonate with that.”

The Awuyazi hitmaker said seeing her work impacting people's lives is what gets her to work every day because she wants to play a big part in change.
