Trevor Noah hosted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner during the weekend. He is the first African to host such a dinner. South Africans had this to say on Twitter:
@MaBlerh
Watching Trevor Noah move from an RGB presenter to a global A-list celebrity is the most incredible thing I have witnessed in the entertainment industry. He started and clocked the game in front of our eyes. Mind-blowing. @MelindaMot
Knowledge is Power. The way he is so politically educated he automatically blends into the room. This is a huge stepping stone to many more things to come in his career. @ZwaneSuguqa
As News Editor at DRUM in 2007, I personally did his Q&A after the success of the SARS campaign & watching his stand-up. I just knew. Then some months later we put him on DRUM cover with Dineo Ranaka for RGB. It has been incredible watching him soar! I knew it.
@RohulaBlack
I watched this. I don’t think most of us understand how special Trevor Noah is. Everything he is doing and getting, he deserves it.
@nbulbulia
Absolutely wonderful! recalling those early live performances & that ‘CEO of CellC’ ad as well...loved his ‘roasting’ of the president of the US last night, just brilliant.
@MbokodoZAR
Trevor Noah is doing amazing! Our best export to the world, showing every African child that it is indeed possible to live your wildest dreams. rameshshlendra
Seeing Trevor Noah prosper excellently in the US gives you a different kind of feeling – maybe you’re just in the wrong environment! Get your passport and leave this country.
@TSkhubane
Trevor is really far with far... and it’s beautiful to witness this brother of mine make it this far... this is what we pray for every day... for South Africans to be noticed outside their comfort zones. Wow.
@zfipaza
Trevor is being groomed to be the future president of South Africa. Just like Zelensky we are likely to have a comedian running our affairs. He is gonna be presented to the electorate as someone who can’t steal because he has made his money in the US. @AChimhuka
Trevor is intelligent and wise. If he thinks about politics in the future he might have a shot.
