The Star Late Edition

Minister of Electricity Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa trended on Twitter after his interview on Morning Live on SABC 2. This is how Twitter reacted.

@ThamiGatsheni

I sometimes think PG is the one who coined this Minister of Electricity thing – attention has significantly shifted towards Sputla and PG is given another reason to live.

@Mfoka_Jobe

So Sputla wakes up every morning and wears suits just to visit companies and get paid. No policies and plan to end load shedding.

@The_Njoko

What I have learnt from your interview of Sputla, @ SakinaKamwendo is that he is not adding any value to resolving the electricity crisis. At the moment he is just a glorified spokesperson. In future he will just be a co-ordinator after receiving powers.

@BizGuru4

As long as Cyril Ramaphosa is still fighting internal battles of themselves sabotaging each other between himself, Gwede and Pravin through the use of internal tax-paid attorneys in a battle to take power from the Tiger Sling Master so he can hand it to Sputla.

@Tabudim

Sputla, stop being a Leftist and start fixing the electricity problem. We are tired of officials who appear busy whilst doing nothing. It is starting to seem as if there’s no difference within the ANC between those who cannot read and those who are wellread.

@Social_bbeing

Sputla is actually a consultant being paid a minister’s salary. He has no authority to decide. He’s just a puppet so that when we hear “load shedding” we take our eyes off Ramaphosa. Scapegoat of the ANC with just big English.

@Ruraltarain_2

The ANC doesn’t respect us, how did the president appoint someone without clarifying his job? There is absolutely no need for us to have Sputla Ramakgopa there. Honestly, the minister of minerals must account for his failures! This is totally bogus.

@Constitution_94

At least this Eskom Stage 6 load shedding will only be for 2 days. You can see that Dr Sputla Ramokgopa is grinding hard. He is moving Eskom from a disaster of Busi Mavuso, André de Ruyter, the kings of propaganda and rogue intelligent reports, to a better place.

@PositivelyNot

Sputla? Nominally, a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Master’s degree in public administration and business leadership and a PhD in public affairs. In reality, he’s just another Mac Maharaj: all @MYANC BS, no action, no substance and definitely no qualms.

@MulaloJNR

Forget about his position in the Cabinet (presently), Dr Sputla is capable of engaging at any level without fear of contradictions and can articulate himself so well (as opposed to many other politicians). He is both a man of action and an intellect.
