FASHION lovers from all walks of life gathered at Sandton City’s Protea Court Rooftop, in Joburg, this week to see what top designers, and the up-andcoming, had to offer in their Spring-Summer 2018 collections at SA Fashion Week.

This year, designers such as Black Coffee and Gert-Johan Coetzee stood out, among many others.

Day one started with the Woolworths Style by SA show, which featured an array of designers.

In attendance were South African personalities who always put their best foot forward.

Stars such as Gigi Lamayne, in a white suit; Tumi Voster; Tshepi Vundla; K Naomi and influencer Thickleeyonce, in a tracksuit outfit, vied for the front seats.

Fashion being fashion, some made a statement by rocking #WinnieMadikizela tribute T-shirts that read: “She didn’t die, she multiplied.”

On the ramp, Rich Mnisi’s collection featured bubble sleeves and high necklines.

The theme of Thebe Magugu’s offering was hats and head accessories. His collections featured functional clothing which could be worn in summer and winter.

Day two showcased a colourful, fun line of stunning swimwear by Beach Cult.

The eccentric, out-of-thebox Durban University of Technology students’ Rise of the Oxx collection featured emojis, heavy wool and graffiti.

It was good seeing actress and singer KB Motsilenyane coming out to play, after she had been MIA for a while. She was dressed by Erre. Thursday was a big night with Black Coffee, Ephymol, Gert-Johan Coetzee, Rubicon, African Style Story, T Niche, Isabel de Villiers and Mmuso Maxwell in the fashion line-up.

Rubicon’s collection stood out, opening out with model Lerato Moloi, paying tribute to mam’Winnie, by pairing all the pieces with doeks.

Last night, the festivities are set to culminate with the Hospice Wits Night with the Stars. This is about bringing together over 100 celebrities – musicians, TV stars and actors, along with top fashion designers – for a good cause.

All proceeds from the night will be donated to Hospice Wits.
