Black Motion tour all set to roll around the country
HOUSE music duo Black Motion are going on a national music tour of six cities across the country this month and next.
Black Motion will visit Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth before heading to their hometown, Pretoria.
“The tour represents what we are about, showcasing the collaboration between us and how we as a brand are able to stick to our roots while producing music,” says Thabo Mabogwane aka Thabosmol, who with Bongani “Murdah” Mohosana comprises Black Motion.
On tour they will fuse selections from their upcoming album with their previous hit songs.“It will work into the atmosphere of where we are, the surroundings, etc,” says Thabosmol.
The duo are also working on a new album, a year and a half after the release of their album Ya Badimo.
The music of the new album is inspired by their experiences while touring, especially from their trip to Detroit in the US, Thabosmol says.
“That trip experience will be the one that shapes the album because of the many jazz melodies we learnt from Detroit; the sound, the methods they use in coming up with music will be a great influence.”
Thabosmol assures Black Motions fans the duo won’t steer too far from their roots on the new album.
“We won’t leave our roots and try to follow whatever trends are out there, but will stay on a Black Motion path with more added value,” he says.
The album is expected to be ready by mid-year.
“It’s all about the passion and what got us where we are today. We can’t get here and be big-headed. Each of us has our own visions, but a similar goal as to where we want to go.
“With that combined, we are able to work towards achieving bigger and better,” he says.
