Park lions killed
KAMPALA: A pride of lions died from suspected poisoning in one of Uganda’s major protected areas, a wildlife official said on Friday.
Eleven lions were found dead in the popular Queen Elizabeth National Park, said Jossy Muhangi, a spokesperson for the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
The deaths were a “big blow” to the park, which depended heavily “on promises to tourists that they are likely to see lions”, he said.
The lions were believed to have been poisoned by herdsmen after attacking livestock.
