LOMACHENKO, KAMBOSAS JR MEET FOR TWO WORLD TITLES

George Kambodas Jr defends his IBO lightweigh­t title and also clashes with Vasily Lomachenko for the vacant IBF lightweigh­t title at the RAC Arena in Perth tomorrow.

Kambosos Jr (21-2; 10) won on a split decision against Lee Selby in November 2021 and upset Teofimo Lopez to take the WBA “super”, IBF and WBO titles after coming back from a knockdown in the tenth round. He failed against Devin Haney in a challenge for the undisputed title in Melbourne in June 2022 and, in a rematch, was outpointed with an ever wider margin by Haney.

Kambosas Jr (30) won the IBO title against Maxi Hughes in his most recent fight on a disputed majority points decision.

One of the greatest amateurs in history, the 36-year-old Lomachenko (17-3; 11)came back from an early defeat as a profession­al to win world titles at featherwei­ght and junior lightweigh­t before being upset at lightweigh­t by Teofimo Lopez. He won his next three fights before losing to Devin Haney in May 2023 and many believed he was the winner against Haney Some critics are predicting a points win for Lomachenko.

On the same card Andrew Moloney (26-3; 16) meets Pedro Guevara (41-4-1; 22) for the interim WBC junior bantamweig­ht title.
