HUNT FOR KILLERS LAUNCHED AFTER TRIPLE MURDER IN INANDA

- — Witness Reporter.

KwaZulu-Natal police have launched a hunt for suspects who shot and killed three people at Nhlungwane area in Inanda yesterday.

The suspects also attempted to kill a fourth person.

According to KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the shooting took place in Mpunzi Road.

He said, on arrival, police found the bodies of a man believed to be in his early 40s and that of a 24-year-old woman lying in the road with multiple gunshot wounds.

“A few metres away from the first crime scene, another body of a man, believed to be 50 years old, was found dead inside his cottage, also with gunshot wounds. His neighbour was also shot at but survived unharmed,” he said.

Netshiunda further stated that initial information at this stage suggested that an unknown number of suspects first shot a man and a woman and then proceeded to a nearby house where they demanded the keys to a minibus taxi from a female occupant of the house.

The woman escaped unharmed and the suspects took the spare key for the minibus.

The suspects are believed to have continued to a cottage further down the road, where they shot the third victim and took original keys before driving off with the minibus.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in the Ntuzuma area.

“Earlier on Monday evening, a man was shot and killed a few metres away from where the man and the woman were killed.

“It is not yet clear if the incident is linked to the triple murder.”

Netshiunda urged anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects or any information that may assist in the investigation to contact the nearest police station or call the crime stop number on 08600 10111.
