Crazy celebration for Lewis after third-round KO win

Derrick Lewis (pictured) claimed the 28th win of his professional MMA career with a third-round knockout of Rodrigo Nascimento in the heavyweight main event at the Enterprise Centre in St Louis, Missouri, yesterday morning.

Lewis and Nascimento spent the first two rounds engaging in clinch fighting and wrestling, with neither able to do much damage nor establish a superiority on the score cards.

However, early in the third round, Lewis wobbled the legs of his opponent with a crisp one-two combination, and followed it up with a barrage of strikes that forced an end to the contest.

“The Black Beast” then engaged in a crazy celebration of his victory, which included pulling down his fight trunks to moon the crowd.

“I appreciate St. Louis for letting me show my naked ass,” Lewis said during his post-fight interview.

The rest of the main card featured a unanimous decision triumph for Joaquin Buckley over Nursulton Ruziboev in the welterweight division; Carlos Ulberg needed just 12 seconds to knockout Alonzo Menifield in the light heavyweight division; Carlos Ferreira stopped Mateusz Rebecki with just nine seconds of their lightweight bout remaining; featherweight Sean Woodson defeated Alex Caceres via unanimous decision; and the heavyweight opener saw a unanimous decision triumph for Waldo Cortes-Acosta over Robelis Despaigne.

The UFC continues with a Fight Night at the APEX Facility in Las Vegas next Sunday, May 19, headlined by a featherweight bout between Lerone Murphy and Edson Barboza. — SuperSport.
