Cars in the
This 1958 GSM Dart, winner of many a Hesketh hill climb and race, will be one of the local race cars on display amid over 1 400 vehicles of all kinds at Cars in the Park on Sunday. SA’s oldest annual car show this year features a silent auction, which entails owners listing a reserve price on vehicles that they are willing to sell, and punters putting bids into a box which will be opened at the end of the event. The entry fee for the daylong show is R50 for adults, and R30 for pensioners and children. Children between 5 and 10 years old get a free playground voucher worth R40. The event, which raises funds for various charities, is hosted at the Ashburton Training Centre on Pope Ellis Drive. Gates open at 8 am, and the show closes at 4.30. pm. Last year some 14 000 people visited the show, so be sure to arrive early to avoid the queues.
