Jozini teacher dies at mark­ing venue af­ter chest pains

A­ TEACHER­ from­ uMkhanyakude­ Districtwho­ was­ among­ the­ ma­tric­ mark­erssta­tioned­ at­ Pi­eter­mar­itzburg­ Girls’­ HighS­chool,­ died­ there­ af­ter­ com­plain­ing­ ofch­est­ pains.

Pro­vin­cial­ Ed­u­ca­tion­ Depart­mentspokesper­son­ Muzi­ Mahlambi­ said­ the­ teacher­ from­ Biva­ Com­bined­ School­ in­Jozini­ died­ on­ Tues­day­ evening­ at­ theschool’s­ din­ing­ hall­ af­ter­ com­plain­ing­ of­se­vere­ chest­ pains.

“He­ com­plained­ of­ chest­ pains­ and­while­ they­ tried­ at­tend­ing­ to­ him­ hecol­lapsed.­

“An­ am­bu­lance­ was­ called­ out,but­ un­for­tu­nately­ he­ was­ de­clared­dead­ at­ the­ scene.”

Mahlambi­ con­veyed­ the­ de­part­ment’scon­do­lences­ to­ the­ teacher’sfam­ily.

The­ mark­ing­ of­ Grade­ 12­ exam­ scripts­ starts­ on­ Mon­day­ in­ all­ the­mark­ing­ cen­tres­ across­ KwaZu­luNatal.

“The­ teach­ers­ have­ moved­ in­tothe­ venues­ and­ all­ 27­ mark­ing­ venue­sare­ ready,”­ said­ Mahlambi.
