DEALING WITH DISASTERS
A disaster management system using big-data analysis and the Internet of Things is being established with Toyota’s help
Probe data obtained from Toyota’s connected cars, such as information on outside air temperature and visuals of the state of traffic, will be combined with demographic movement data, weather information and data from disaster monitoring sensors to enable local authorities to monitor extensive infrastructure in real time. This will help them ascertain things like where passable roads are to boost the accuracy and speed of evacuation warnings, traffic control and ensuring the safety of residents. The system will also allow smartphones to be used as mobile sensors to enhance the data-gathering.
