1. DREAM ESCAPE

An experience like no other, Anantara Medjumbe Island’s Star Bed Experience is a romantic sleep out under the skies on a private island in the Quirimbas Archipelago off the northern coast of Mozambique.

You and your partner will be taken on a traditional dhow boat, arriving at Quissanga Island in time to enjoy sundowners. After dinner, you’ll retire to a four-poster bed and sleep al fresco, while the waves lap against the shores (no sleep app required!). The dhow will arrive at a pre-arranged time to bring you back to Anantara Medjumbe for a breakfast buffet.

Indulge in the signature Star Bed Experience as part of the all-inclusive Discovery Experience package (starting at

R10 844 per room per night), which includes accommodation, daily breakfast, lunch and dinner for two for every night stayed, beverages (a select range of non-alcoholic drinks, house wines, local beers and house spirits), a host of non-motorised watersport activities and an in-room mini-bar.

2. WHIMSICAL DESIGN

Dutch furniture brand Moooi is a curious blend of innovation and playfulness. The company works with designers to produce iconic, unforgettable products, from lighting to furniture and accessories. “We don’t tell designers what to do – we listen to what designers want to make and try to realise their dreams,” says Marcel Wanders, Moooi’s co-founder, Art Director and Designer. A selection of Moooi products is now available in SA at the following Weylandts stores: Green Point in Cape Town, Fourways, Kramerville and Sandton City in Johannesburg and Umhlanga in Kwazulu-natal. 3. LITERARY LEGACY

Since 1992, Montblanc’s annual Writers Edition has been honouring the literary icons of yesteryear. This year sees the release of Montblanc Writers Edition, Homage to Homer Limited Edition 1581 (R1 500), a celebration of ancient Greek poet Homer. This tribute to Homer’s epic poem about the Trojan War, The Iliad, references the first English edition with a limitation number. “The gold-coated inlay on the cap is inspired by the armour of the legendary warrior Achilles, the central figure of The Iliad,” according to Montblanc. The Champagne-tone gold is engraved with a pattern representing the dactylic hexameter, the metre traditionally associated with ancient Greek epic poetry. Visit: www.montblanc.com

4. PENCIL IT IN

The latest addition to Veuve Clicquot’s iconic sunburst-yellow, limited-edition accessories is the Veuve Clicquot Magnetic Pencil from the Colorama Collection.

As the story goes, Veuve Clicquot winemakers would use pencils to make notes about each wine before they began blending. The magnetic pencil in each box is a nod to this tradition and makes a chic fridge accessory. Jot down notes while your Champagne chills. Veuve Clicquot Magnetic Pencil holds a bottle of Yellow Label Brut Champagne (R549). Available from leading liquor merchants nationwide while stocks last.

5. MODERNITY AND STYLE

Featuring an open-work dial which exposes the exquisite craftsmanship, the mechanical, self-winding Calibre RW1212 beats at a frequency of 28 800 vibrations per hour and has a 38-hour power reserve. 6. STUNNING ELEGANCE

The Nelson Mandela Platinum Suite at the Saxon Hotel has recently been refurbished. The timeless design of the suite was inspired by Mandela’s Xhosa heritage. Johannesburg artist Dean Simon, whose works adorn the walls of the hotel, was called in for the refresh. The features of this stately suite include a guest suite, a walk-in shower and steam room, a fully equipped butler’s kitchen and 24-hour butler service. The Saxon operates according to the Best Available Rate system, so tariffs fluctuate according to availability. The Platinum Suite starts at R34 000 per night.
