Popping ponytails
We’ve witnessed yet another season of ponies trending. Whether you wear them low or high, or you use hair extensions that match your natural texture, the styles are fun and varied.
IT’S HIGH TIME
The high ponytail is an instant facelift. Be sure to tie it tightly as it’ll tug at your edges and cause damage to the scalp. This season has been about embracing your texture and working with what you have. The look is a guide, but you can wear it with your own texture. Apply a moisturising spray to the hair – it must be just enough to allow you to comb through the hair smoothly. Brush the hair upwards to the position you want your ponytail to sit. Tie the hair using hairbands, then attach a piece for volume or length that matches your natural hair texture.
THE LOWDOWN
Low ponytails remain a classic. For an updated look, hairstylists used accessories such as ribbons, strips of leather and understated gold rings. We look forward to seeing what else they will come up with. If you’re not keen on adding little bits and bobs, keep it clean and wrap your own hair around the base of the ponytail.
Your ponytail is incomplete if your edges are messy and out of control. Grab an old toothbrush or bristle brush, dip into your product and brush stray hairs down. You can even play with the finish you desire by adding rings and waves.
