True Love

I don’t want a big media spectacle around the Jessica Nkosi Foundation’s initiatives, I just care about keeping children in school.”

OFF THE CUFF

What would you do today if you knew you couldn’t fail? I’d totally start a beauty line — I haven’t figured out a name for it yet, but I’m crazy about all things beauty. What have you given up in favour

of your peace of mind? I had to get off Twitter. I swear, the devil dances on that platform [chuckles]. I feel safer posting on Instagram because it seems all the nice people are there.

What feeds your soul? Gospel music. I especially resonate with Hill Song, Travis Greene, Ntokozo Mbambo and Cory Asbury and many other contemporary gospel artists. What do you regret the most?

Honestly, nothing at all. I feel that each experience contributes to our characters in one shape or form. What kind of people do you admire? Hard workers, people who break boundaries and who are fearless in pursuing their goals. Media businesswoman Khanyi Dhlomo springs to mind.

TV or theatre? I’ve fallen in love with TV, because it offers more variety. Given the chance, I’d work on one theatre production a year.

WHAT ADULTHOOD HAS TAUGHT ME

Adulthood can be baffling. I feel like we were highly misled about what growing up entails [chuckles]. I’ve learnt it’s important to build your life in your 20s so you can live comfortably going forward.

Be resilient and prepared. When my sister passed away earlier this year, I found myself suddenly handling funeral admin I never thought I’d ever have to deal with. I had to grow up overnight! Parenthood could come knocking at your door at any minute.

Especially once you decide to start indulging in certain activities and it doesn’t matter what you’re taking [chuckles].
