September has always been my favourite month. Not only is it my birthday month, I also feel a sense of newness and freshness (more so than in January). It feels like you can press life’s “reset” button – to readjust your wardrobe, revive your social life and relationships, spruce up your home... basically any and everything!
If you’re looking for some style inspiration, look no further than this exciting issue. Our fashion and beauty team have searched high and low to put together a collection of must-have items to update your wardrobe for the coming hot months. And boy did they search! From eye-popping shades, ’80s disco-inspired metallics to the latest shoes to step in – it’s literally everything you need to look brand new.
As the days become longer, what better way to say hello to spring than to entertain family and friends outdoors? Our food editor cooked up a storm, what with her mouthwatering braai ideas that make you want to lick the pages (I’m a sucker for a good braai), as well as dainty mini-treats that are perfect for brunch or a high tea.
Do read the feature on page 90 if you’re considering a “spring fling”, to learn how to broach those really awkward questions before jumping into the sack with your new beau. From his sexual history and HIV and STD tests to your stating your boundaries, I know these topics can make you cringe, but confronting them could save you the heartache and drama.
Before I sign off, I’d like to congratulate the winning Securex Yin and Yang couple, Naledi Tema and Katlego Mfolo, who’ve bagged a R20 000 cash price which they plan to spend on their bae-cation! The couple was chosen following a 3-month search. After witnessing Katlego’s boisterous personality against Naledi’s reserved demeanour, I totally agree that they are a complementary pair.
