THE 5 RULES THAT KEEP ME SANE
Pray, pray pray! Pray because this world is crazy and your spirit needs guidance. Pray because spirituality is a need. Pray because conversations with God will always keep you centred.
Eat. Oh my God, please eat! Most of us have this bad habit of not eating because we’re too busy and that puts a lot of strain on our bodies — this is like expecting your car to drive from Johannesburg to Durban on a quarter tank.
Spend a lot of time alone. Have moments where you’re literally doing nothing or where you are just quietly sitting in your garden — and try not to be on your phone. Always communicate with your loved ones. I suck at this but it’s something I’m learning to prioritise. I say this because we live on borrowed time, and we always assume that we’re going to be around forever, forgetting that any conversation could be our last. I got a rude awakening when I lost my dear friend Akhumzi Jezile in April this year. Always remind your loved ones how much you love them.
Talk to your parents as often as you can. They are getting older and very soon, they won’t be around.
