Pack Like A Pro
TL fashion editor Jessica Ramoshaba spills the beans on how to pack like a pro
I like weaving a story, or creating an ambience around my trips so I can pack accordingly. For instance, the theme for my last trip to Hong Kong was dresses and skirts. A denim wardrobe with a few standout pieces can also work. The idea is to look stylish 24/7.
SECRET NO. 1 MASTER THE BASICS
How many outfits should you have? The rule is to pack according to the number of days you'll be away. If you're travelling for five days, then pack 10 solid outfits, one for the day and one for the evening. If you run out of clothes, do laundry at the hotel.
SECRET NO. 4 STAND OUT WITH EXTRAS
Forget about matching. Take unique bags and shoes that stand out. Pack a clutch, multi-use beach bag and comfortable espadrilles in chic prints and colours.
SECRET NO. 2 TAKE MANY SHADES
Why pack one pair of shades for your entire trip? I take three — one formal, one funky and a trendy one.
SECRET NO. 3 BE READY FOR MAGIC
Pack a showstopper, or two. You never know where you'll be invited to. I opt for sequins or something metallic.
SECRET NO. 5 HAVE SOME FASHION FUN!
This is the time to experiment with different shapes and cuts. Be daring and live your best life.
