Hair Treatment

Always take care of the hair that Mother Nature blessed you with. Remember that it’s yours forever, so don’t neglect it while wearing a wig.

Here’s how to keep your own hair in tip-top shape:

*Make sure that you cover your hair before installing your wig. This will help protect your hairline and prevent hair friction.

*Wash your hair at least once a week. Use a leave-in conditioner that will leave the strands softer and more manageable.

*Moisturise your scalp at least twice a week to keep your tresses hydrated. This will also assist with relieving itchiness and discomfort. Be careful not to over-moisturise. The product buildup can cause discomfort and sometimes lead to bad odour.

DID YOU KNOW?

Wearing a wig is the quickest way to grow your natural hair.

BIG NO

Follow this one important rule: For hygiene and health reasons, do not share your wigs with anyone else.

Wig Treatment THE WASHING PROCESS

*Wash your wig every second week. *Prep the hair by brushing out all the knots and tangles before shampooing. You will struggle to detangle the strands once the hair’s wet. Start at the bottom and work your way to the top. *Use lukewarm water (cold for synthetic hair) to maintain the volume. Remember to use a shampoo suitable for your hair type, and don’t rub it in. *Use a conditioner to keep the hair smelling fresh and clean, and to impart much-needed sheen.

*Ensure that the strands are flowing in the same direction during the wash and conditioning processes, so it doesn’t get mixed up.

*Rinse the hair from root to end.

DRYING PROCESS

*Gently pat dry with a towel until the hair is damp.

*Dry gently with a blow dryer, using low or medium heat for human hair. Use a wide tooth brush.

*Part it into small sections and dry it in a downward direction.

BIG NO

If the hair is synthetic (plastic), steer clear of heat and air-dry it instead.

MOISTURISE

Apply a tiny amount of hair serum or a few drops of argan oil, to give it some volume and shine.

STORAGE

You can store the wig on a stand or hang it with your clothes, but just keep it away from direct sunlight.
