UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH PAMELA PHATSIMO SUNSTRUM
Artist Pamela Phatsimo Sunstrum shares how she's making her mark in the art space and her recent artist residency at Gallery Momo.
What are you working on?
I'm currently working on a suite of large narrative paintings. I've been finding ways of reinterpreting details or elements of these ‘classic' images into my own visual language. For my paintings, I primarily work on wood panel and use a combination of drawing and painting materials, such as charcoal, pencil, watercolour, ink, and acrylic paint.
Describe your artistic style in three words?
Trying. My. Hardest.
How did you end up working at Gallery Momo?
They offered me a three-month Artist Residency in Joburg, providing me with a concentrated period of time to devote to a particular idea or exploration.
