SURVIVING A SEX BUDDY SET-UP

Social dating and pleasure coach, Makabelo Motaung, shares the following tips:

-

Rules can make any relationship more smooth sailing. Set rules and know what you want. The mistake most people make in a sex buddy set-up is expecting the other person to read their mind. Be clear on what you want and stick to it. This arrangement is meant to get the itch scratched. If you start catching feelings – get out.

Treat the situations as a ‘drive-through’. Order your meal, collect it and leave. Sleepovers can be problematic as conversations are inevitable, and when they happen, feelings come into play. Never make a sex buddy someone who is easily accessible. Once you have an integrated world, then it can become tricky. My best advice is to find someone out of your circle, someone you don’t have shared interests with.

Emotions should never be part of this situation. Don’t share things that should be reserved for a relationship. If you do, this will develop into more than an arrangement. Don’t hook up with a potential partner. This is a recipe for disaster, as you’ll be disappointed when the other person doesn’t want to be in a relationship with you.
