REACHING OUT
If you’re worried about your man’s health, get him signed up for a group. Support group leader Ronnie Nkabinde shares how he could stand to benefit by joining one:
Various experts give members professional advice and information. This includes diet and other lifestyle adjustments. People who don’t know where to go or who to talk to because they don’t belong to any support group, are always frustrated. They can feel lonely and depressed as family has no time for them, and friends also tend to disappear. Support groups are part of the healing process, and that’s also where people get more information about their illness, the treatment they are receiving, as well as the side effects of the illness and various treatments. This is usually much more information than they receive at a public health facility. Sharing experiences also helps those who thought they were the only ones undergoing certain problems or challenges.
