ANDISWA SIHLALI

Age: 30

Occupation: Executive PA Andiswa is a single mother to a handsome baby boy, and also a parttime student and working woman. It’s been a while since she’s spoiled herself, and she felt a makeover was long overdue. “It always feels good to take some time out to unwind and be pampered. You feel rejuvenated – and it’s all about loving yourself. When you look good, you feel good, plus it’s a great stress buster!” she says.

MAKE-UP

“When Andiswa mentioned that she’s not that into make-up, I promised to keep her look as minimal and natural as possible. I didn’t want to go crazy, in case she didn’t recognise herself [chuckles]”, says make-up artist Faith Seuoe. “The aim was to transform her, but for Andiswa to still feel like herself. First things first, I applied a liquid primer, which I’m currently obsessed with because it keeps the make-up in place and allows it to set well. Secondly, I applied the foundation with a foundation brush, defined her brows, and used a nude eyeshadow palette. Andiswa has beautiful round cheeks, so I used a blush and highlighter to accentuate the area. Lastly, I chose a sweet pink lip gloss for an adorable dewy finish,” Seuoe adds.

HAIR

“Andiswa mentioned that she washed and treated her hair the day before the shoot, so I decided to just base her scalp before styling it. Because her hair is quite long, I opted to do a top knot, which was easy to execute. After basing her scalp, I brushed the hair and tied it up in a ponytail. I then used one packet of fibre to create a jumbo braid, which I connected to her hair and twisted it onto the ponytail. For a smooth finish, I laid her edges with a control cream,” explains hairstylist Andiswa Sibisi. ANDISWA’S EXPERIENCE How did you feel after the makeover? I was ecstatic! I got to look different for a day, and made people’s heads turn and go ‘wow, you look beautiful!’ This makeover boosted my selfesteem. What did you enjoy most?

Trying out different outfits and feeling like a celebrity, as I tend to stick to simple outfits. I also loved the make-up – Faith really worked her magic. Did this makeover make you a fan of make-up?

Definitely, especially because I only wear it on special occasions. Did you learn anything new?
