MINIMISE YOUR USUAL HAIR ROUTINE

You don’t have to wash your hair daily when travelling as this will strip off the natural oils needed to keep it healthy and shiny. Between washes, apply dry shampoo to the roots before styling. Also avoid excessive usage of hair dryers, straighteners, and curling irons as they can make your hair more fragile, especially in warm weather.

OPT FOR EASY PROTECTIVE STYLES

Quick updos are definitely worth mastering as they are easy to maintain. These protective styles will keep your neck cool and prevent your hair from being severely damaged by the harmful rays of the sun and wind. Try out various styles of braids and ponytails. Take along some hair accessories to simplify your styling routine and create quick, effortless hairstyles.

CHOOSE YOUR TRAVEL KIT WISELY

Your kit should not contain the same products that you use on a daily basis as your hair requires much more nutrition and moisture than usual. Pack deep conditioning masks, conditioners and a tangle teaser comb to detangle your hair. Condition after every wash. This protects and deeply nourishes your mane. Take along coconut oil as it is one of the best multi-tasking products around. Apply it on the tips of your hair before you get on a plane for extra moisture, or put on a coconut mask after a long flight to help your hair recover.

AVOID HARMFUL SUN RAYS

It’s important to know how to avoid hair damage while visiting some hot destinations. Protect your hair while having fun in the sun by applying a UV hair protecting spray or wrapping your tresses in a turban. Remember to also coat your hair with a moisturiser or hair oil before going into salty water. After swimming, rinse with shampoo and apply a leave-in conditioner.
