#MOREFORLESS
The highlight of putting this issue together had to be meeting our cover star, Masasa Mbangeni. Most of the team expected a no-nonsense, serious woman mirrored from the really intense characters she plays on TV. Instead, the woman we met was a breath of fresh air — comfortable in her own skin and radiating positivity. We watched as she owned her space, nonchalantly dancing around like a fairy as the photographer snapped away. I’m inquisitive by nature, so I found myself asking about the reason behind her contagious glow – the man she so openly loves on social media. And boy, did she share! I literally had to sit down on the studio floor to take in her love story. Before wrapping up, she shared how everything that’s happening in her life right now is a far cry from the previous struggles she had to endure — and the emotional work she had to do. She had to start loving herself again — a torturous healing journey that took years to complete. I am intrigued. During lunch, vegetarian of course, she shared nuggets of wisdom I believe everyone should know — and that is to take up space unashamedly. I would pay millions to attend a woman’s workshop run by her.
That said, when it comes to your well-being, it’s almost impossible to get more for less (the therapist, a life coach, a gym session or even that TRUE LOVE event you’ve been dying to attend). Perhaps it’s the other things like clothing, make-up and dinners that you can skimp on to give yourself some self-care. And that’s what this whole issue is about – looking fab without breaking the bank. We’ve curated 150+ fashion and beauty buys you can get at a steal!
