Doctor and Miss Supranational South Africa 2020

This go-getter believes in living a purposedriven life. Dr Thato Mosehle discovered her purpose early on in life when she decided to study medicine. This decision was inspired by her desire to see people, especially from disadvantaged backgrounds, receiving better healthcare services. As a result, this young woman, who is dedicated to saving lives, was one of the essential workers who were at the forefront of fighting COVID -19 and risked their lives in the process.

Growing up in Stilfontein, in North West province, Thato wanted more out of life, and getting a good education allowed her to thrive in a field that was impossible for Black women to get into in the past. She obtained her MB ChB degree at the University of the Free State in 2018, and completed her internship at Klerksdorp-Tshepong Hospital in March this year. She has ambitions of furthering her studies, and hopes to be an anaesthesiologist one day. Besides working as a doctor, Thato hosts a weekly #ChooseDay online talkshow, where she shares medical knowledge.

Not one to rest on her laurels, Thato has other interests away from her medical profession: she’s exploring the beauty and pageantry industry, and is a part time make-up student at the Beauty Therapy Institute. She was also recently crowned Miss Supranational South Africa 2020 at the Miss SA pageant. She will soon be taking part at the 12th edition of the Miss Supranational pageant to be held in Poland in August, and is the first person under the Miss South Africa banner to do so, as Miss Supranational South Africa 2020.
