The boys are back. miss them? well don’t expect to jump right in where season 1 ended as popular drama series tempy pushas (2013-current) returns. according to lead star sdumo mtshali (kuti), the show you know and love has undergone a few directional changes due to behind-the-scenes moves. but as sdumo points out, it’s not better or worse, it’s “just different”. expect new faces as well as a new focus but with the same message: hustling hard, which according to akhumzi jezile – who plays ngulube – is the meaning behind the show’s title.

season 1 saw the boys rise above their orphan background and finally shoot the movie that they’d dreamt of making since their childhood. in season 2, while their paths diverge, the trio still share a common goal: success. kuti has dropped out of law school to make movies and he’s running his late mom’s fashion empire. ngulube’s working for zenzele zen’s (khulu skenjana) rival fashion house. and x (pallance dladla) is getting to grips with celebrity life.

how has shooting been on season 2? it’s been utter chaos [laughs]. we’re working at it and have been under pressure time-wise. how is it different to season 1? it’s almost a different show now because we’re working with a different team and crew. the entire look and feel of the show has changed and the story’s going in a different direction. So what changes will viewers see in your character? each of the guys has taken their own path and we see kuti trying to keep his late mom’s legacy alive at house of bogatsu. his past just keeps thwarting his plans as he sets out to be a man. fans loved the first season; why do you think they’ll like this one? i think the audience will love it because it’s different and also
