in the series premiere in february 2013, we found out that phillip had confessed to liz that he wanted to defect. phillip has another spy identity as clarke, who married martha (alison wright), the secretary to fbi counterintelligence supervisor frank gaad (richard thomas), in episode 12 of season 1 in may 2013. martha believes that elizabeth is phillip’s sister. their handler claudia (margo martindale) told them at the end of season 2 on 13 january this year that the kgb wants to recruit their teen daughter paige. elizabeth was okay with it, phillip wasn’t. fbi agent neighbour stan beeman (noah emmerich), is spending a lot of time at the jennings house because he’s going through a divorce, which puts him dangerously close to figuring out who elizabeth is in episode 1 of season 3. we meet the jennings’ old supervisor gabriel (frank langella) in episode 1 too. he’s someone they love and trust.
