It seems that lerato and sechaba’s (tema sebopedi and motlatsi mafatshe) love boat is finally headed towards smoother sailing. with the on-again-offagain couple at the point where they’re able to admit their feelings on monday 23 february, isidingo fans will finally have their favourite lovers back together. but nothing in the deep – especially love – is ever that straightforward, as lerato and sechaba will soon realise.
when horizon deep welcomed ditsy lerato and scheming sechaba to town in 2011, it didn’t take long before they were in each other’s arms. but their blooming romance hit a nasty snag in october last year in the shape of hamilton (anthony oseyemi), when the charming conman swept lerato off her feet. “she chose hamilton over sechaba. lerato thought that she was following her dreams and she forgot to include sechaba in them,” motlatsi says of the couple’s failed love.
man up, man
some three-and-a-half months after they split up, sechaba decides that it’s time to make things right with lerato. they’ve been tiptoeing around each other, so sechaba sucks it up and admits that he’s still in love with her. “frankly, i think that sechaba’s been a bit childish and he hasn’t wanted to admit his feelings,” motlatsi explains. “it’s a guy code thing.” thankfully, sechaba breaks that code and takes a number of romantic steps to show his ex how he really feels. but lerato’s also playing the denial game, all for the sake of being difficult. tema believes that this forms a big part of their ongoing relationship woes. “they both have too much pride and are too selfish to make one another’s needs a priority,” tema reveals.
