Tshidi gets her own back when nolwazi catches Gadaffi’s eye.

thursday 5 march after asking gadaffi too many questions about his past, a move that nolwazi quickly regrets. “she’s feisty and pokes where nobody else does and this may not go down well with her boss,” thando says. but he likes her, so she’ll probably get away with it. but not before a tongue-lashing that puts her in her place, drawing the line very clearly.
battle lines are drawn
after being lectured by the boss, she’s then given a talking to by the boss’s wife. tshidi puts her foot down at nolwazi’s bossy and overbearing behaviour in the office, but it doesn’t go as well as tshidi had hoped on monday 9 march, when she suggests a photoshoot to revamp gadaffi’s image. nolwazi undermines her completely during the shoot, leaving tshidi with a sour taste in her mouth. “they have a go at it most times because nolwazi’s always trying to get a reaction from tshidi,” says thando of her character’s constant fights with her boss’s wife.
tshidi’s outburst unsettles nolwazi and on tuesday 10 march, she makes sure that they both know who has the upper hand. she comes up with an idea of her own to make herself look good once again, but trying to make gangster gadaffi and his company look good in the public eye is no easy feat and nolwazi’s not going to let tshidi get in the way of her excelling at her job. “the truth is, nolwazi feels threatened by tshidi and that makes her uncomfortable. she doesn’t like that,” says thando. “she tries to hide her insecurities by taking tshidi on and proving that she’s better than her and more valuable to the company.”
deadly threats?
but there’s bad luck for nolwazi on friday 13 march, because tshidi decides to get her own back, showing nolwazi that she may be rich and pretty but she didn’t marry a gangster as a matter of bad taste. she goes to nolwazi’s apartment and threatens her with a gun, gangsterstyle. but nolwazi doesn’t run away, cowering in fear like most would. “she isn’t afraid of anything that tshidi does because it’s just going to make her look bad and nolwazi knows that gadaffi will take her side,” explains thando.
looks like the new girl’s stirring up trouble – not just for tshidi, but for the phakades as a couple. maybe now tshidi will consider being the trophy wife that gadaffi wanted and not having to deal with office politics.
