Scandal! Weekdays e.tv 19:30

Mlungisi (Patrick Mofokeng) is left stunned on Friday 25 September when his former mistress Boitshoko (Nkoto Malebye) drops a bombshell on him: he’s her babydaddy. And that baby is no longer a toddler. She is a self-aware 14-year-old teenager named Omphile (Botlhale Boikanyo), who wants to meet her biological father. Now Mlu finds himself with two daughters, two families and too many lies to cover-up, but one thing’s for sure: he wants to do right by Omphile and calls a meeting with her on Tuesday 29 September. Botlhale tells us more about her character.

Welcome to Scandal! – tell us about your character Omphile? She’s a 14-year-old girl who’s very shy. She doesn’t talk a lot; she’s reserved, respectful and wellgrounded. She grew up in the rural areas and has gone through a lot of suffering, but because of that, she’s also very grounded. She’s basically the total opposite of who I am. I’m a loud person who talks a lot and I say everything as it is. I’m more dramatic than my character and more out there. What story about her father has Omphile made up in her head? My character was told by her mother that she had a dad and her first impression is that he just doesn’t care about me. She also thought that he was one of those drunken men who didn’t care about his children and is an irresponsible dad. How did she feel when she found out that he’s alive? It was a shock when she first discovered that this was her father and it was quite emotional, something that has been building up over time. Describe Mlu’s reaction when he meets you for the first time? The first day we met, he was just staring at me and it was awkward – he didn’t even talk. He just greeted me and my mom. I didn’t know what to do. He was staring at me and it was awkward. And what are her first impressions of her “new” siblings? Omphile is quite excited to have a sister and a brother. When she meets her siblings [on Wednesday 18 November], she’s even more excited. But it’s also an awkward first meeting… You won SA’s Got Talent (2009-current) in 2012. Will we see your character sing on the show? Maybe later. I’d really love to perform on Scandal! – maybe then they will bring out a specific side of my character. It would be nice to grow on the show until university or something. Thembeka is convinced by the tale that the murderer victim’s mistress has spun her, but Anzani discovers shocking facts when she visits the victim’s house to take photos. Gloria drops hints to Zinzile about Mlu being seen with a strange woman, and Zinzile gives Anzani biscuits for Ma’Mpahlele. Mangi saves Thembeka’s reputation but is taken aback when all he gets is a pat on the back, and Eddie suggests to Mlu that he take out a restraining order against Boitshoko after she rocks up at his house uninvited. Mangi’s furious when Quinton tells him why he will never give him a share in the business, but Lucas reminds him that Quinton isn’t the only shareholder… Mlu covers up Boitshoko’s identity, and Lerumo’s shocked to discover that Anzani is capable of lying. Eddie threatens to dump Lucas’s book on the internet for free, and Tsatsi teams up with Eddie after she finds out why he was writing the book in the first place. Meanwhile, Mlu comes clean to Zinzile but he doesn’t know the whole truth. Tsatsi prepares to destroy any blackmail potential that Lucas’s seduction of her had, and Zinzile wonders why Mlu is tense again. Ndu wonders how to win back Gontse’s affections, and Mangi approaches the other NFH shareholders.
