Spring is here, so let’s get sizzling with the fourth season of Ultimate Braai Master (2012- current). Judge and host Justin Bonello’s returned with chefs Petrus Madutlela and Bertus Basson to review, critique and crown braaiing’s best.
MEET THE TEAMS
C-Soned (Cape Town) Braai master Craig Isaacs (24) is a guest relations officer who entered the competition with his soccer coach brother Carl (29).
On-fire fact: Carl is afraid of camping.
Rustenburgers
(Rustenberg) Ignatius Mosoane (35) is a car sales executive by day and braai king by night. He’s joined by entrepreneur friend Neo Chochoe (25).
On-fire fact: Ignatius isn’t a morning person and dreads early morning tasks.
Swagger Muffins
(Somerset West) Braai master Claudia D’Ambrosio Grobler (41) and her best friend Sacha Buchanan (41) love to entertain, braai and travel.
On-fire fact: Claudia’s not that confident with making braaibroodjies.
Sparkle (East London) Foodie Helene De Boer (24) is taking the reins as braai master, joined by her bodybuilder boyfriend Ryan Watson (23).
On-fire fact: Helene will miss cooking with fresh veggies from her garden.
YOLO Roadies (Joburg) Braai master Rosanela Pierce (27) is a small business owner who entered with architect bestie Shani Fakir (27). On-fire fact: Shani hates cold mornings.
Weskus Annas (the Western Cape) They were eliminated in season 3 but master Piet Marais (30) and buddy John Grundlingh (36) believe that “if at first you don’t succeed, braai, braai again”.
On-fire fact: Piet worries that the competition will be tougher in season 4.
Skoot (Strandfontein) Sven Adams (28) is a chef and so is his teammate Rohan Mudenda (28). On-fire fact: Rohan’s freaked out about unpredictable weather conditions.
Shisa Mfethu (Stanger) Eldry Leibrandt (35) is an architectural technologist and his Braai buddy teammate Louis Pillay (31) is a civil engineer.
On-fire fact: Eldry admits that he has bad time management skills.
Gee Gee’s (Boksburg) Retired best friends Tracy Graham (54) and Christine Vermaak (61) are looking for adventure and to show that age is just a number.
On-fire fact: Christine doesn’t know if she can keep up with Tracy.
Eminent (Durban) Braai master Tsepo Mchunu (23) and his friend Ntando Phungula (23) want to broaden their experience in the hospitality industry.
On-fire fact: Nthando wants to “taste the flavours” as opposed to just cooking the food.
Warriors (Joburg) Culinary artist Sibanda Lesego (28) takes the main role, joined by hospitality student Ramothibe Mbali (22).
On-fire fact: Sibanda claims that he has mastered the art of carving meat.
Flying Boar (Cape Town) Private chef Wynand Van Rooyen (28) is joined by his partner Kirby Auret (25), who’s also a private chef.
On-fire fact: Kirby doesn’t know how she’ll cope cooking without her usual electrical appliances.
Double Trouble (Hammanskraal) Itumeleng Mputle (38) and his braai buddy Khathatso Phalane (35) entered the competition for some cooking experience.
