Sydney-born Christopher Egan, who plays Alex Lannon in Dominion (20142015), loves South Africa, “Except when it comes to rugby and cricket” he says with a cheeky grin. The 31-year-old also quips how much he loves Rooibos tea, adding, “I think that makes me quite South African.” And seeing as how the now-cancelled series was filmed in Cape Town, Christopher now knows his biltong from his Bokke…

Your character is different from season 1. What changed? In season 1, I think Alex was far more reactive. He listened to people and followed orders. Season 2 sees him going rogue, doing his own thing, not listening to anyone. He’s angry and this is fuelled by the feeling that his mentor Archangel Michael (Tom Wisdom) abandoned him. The two do meet up again, but it’s not the same. Is there any real meaning behind the tattoos that cover Alex’s body? They’re real verses from the Bible taken from the different parts. So it’s kind of authentic, but it has nothing to do with the prophecy. Applying those tattoos must have been hectic? It literally takes three hours. If I have an early morning call, I have to be in make-up at 03:30! Luckily, there’s a thing called coffee and also YouTube videos to keep you busy. And how did you find the fight scenes this season? I have much more hand-to-hand combat, sword fights and shootouts. Stunt co-ordinator Kerry Greg showed us how to put a gun back together, which was cool. But there are mishaps, like the time Roxanne McKee (Claire Riesen) hit me with a gun [Laughs]. What don’t people know about you? I’m a Twitter newbie (@MrChrisEgan) and only joined in 2014. I’m also a sci-fi geek who loves Star Trek (1966-current).
