With her first kiss and drugs checked off, Lindiwe is going to lose no time trying to get other firsts under her belt. Before the end of February, she’s going to lose something that she can never get back to a boy who isn’t so much sharing the experience with her as enjoying something that’s handed to him like a snack sample at the supermarket. It’s a decision that she’ll come to regret. “Lindiwe needs love and care. If she had whatever it is that will make her feel wanted by her family, I don’t think that she’d be the way that she is right now. There would be no call for her to be seeking attention in other places,” says Nomvelo. But if Lindiwe was her sister, Nomvelo still would let her make her own mistakes. “It’s her life. If that is her way of learning, then let it be. She’d come crying to me, I would advise her and then she’d know a lot better.”
