The only way for Princess Oarabile to save her struggling village is to marry Maru.

Forget about a fairytale royal wedding – Princess Oarabile (Keaby Mashugane) isn’t even in love with her hotel-heir fiancé Maru (Thato Molamu). She’s only saying yes to the dress in the first week of June to save her village in the North-West province.
BLUE BRIDE
The celebrations start with the traditional wedding on Wednesday 1 June and the white wedding on Thursday 2 June. It’s a mix of cultures as the royal bride’s Tshwane family welcome Maru’s Sotho family, who bring traditional offerings to their new princess and her people. Instead of a joyous celebration though, the bride is gloomy and sad.
“It’s a bittersweet day,” says Keaby. “She is torn between what she wants and what is required of her from her family. This wedding is a business transaction for her, an obligation that must be fulfilled for the sake of the village.” Her new in-laws will build a resort in Oarabile’s kingdom, providing jobs, development and income for the village.
GIVE ME THAT PRE-NUP!
Maru’s aunt Thakane and uncle Atleha (Nthati Moshesh and Sello Sebotsane) are excited about a royal in the family, but Maru’s mistress Tselane (Motsoaledi Setum) isn’t pleased. And neither is Oarabile, who demands that Maru sign a pre-nup on Tuesday 7 June. “Oarabile has made peace with Tselane being around. As long as there’s a pre-nup in place, if Maru slips up with Tselane, Oarabile gets what she wants: money!” explains Keaby. At the same time, the bride can’t help thinking of her true love Xolani (Mpumelelo Bhulose), who’s in jail for a crime that’s undisclosed at this time. “She’s in love with Xolani, whom she visited just before the wedding [Tuesday 31 May], but she doesn’t want anyone to know.”
MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE
By marrying royally, Maru’s showing his people that there’s no way that he could’ve killed his dad Bongoe (Peter Sephuma) on Monday 4 April. After all, no princess would marry a murderer – would she? So does Oarabile know that she’s being used as much as she’s using her groom? Right now, all that matters to her is saving her people…
