Dodgy, money-hungry Pastor Nkosi is back to preach the gospel and con the congregation.

There’s nothing holy about Pastor Nkosi’s return to the church. Mon-Wed SABC1 (*191) 20:30

On Wednesday 8 June, the board of the KwaMashu Kingdom Church suspends Ayanda (Kay Sibiya) following his Tuesday 7 June brawl with Mxolisi (Naymaps Maphalala). But while a pastor who beats up his brother in a rage might not be fit to preach, the board is setting a wolf to guard its flock when they bring back the disgraced Pastor Nkosi (Mondli Makhoba). “He feels pleased that he’s been called back, just to rub it in Ayanda’s face that he won,” laughs Mondli. “Nkosi wants to win souls and win the church members’ minds because he believes in God. However, he has his own agenda around that, which is to make more money.”

MORE MONEY

Pastor Nkosi dazzles the congregation with his passionate, charismatic preaching on Monday 13 June as the first step to making his fortune. “He will preach on offering more often and at times he will make them feel guilty – that they need to offer more, because he goes on to say everything that they have is from God, so why don’t they give it back to God? And he knows that between the congregation and God is him,” Mondli says, “so everything goes through him.”

POWER & PERVERSION

Pastor Nkosi is also quick to reveal that he has returned from his “time in the wilderness” with great power to speak in tongues and also to heal with prayer. “He uses oil that he’s prayed over and he makes people believe that this oil works. So people come in and ask for prayers. He will also pray privately.” And for Pastor Nkosi, that means time alone with his other weakness: women. “He doesn’t touch men, only women,” reveals Mondli. “He touches them inappropriately, but when they open their eyes and look at him, he will look as if he’s deeply in prayer when he does it.”

REMOVING THE RIVALS

To really sink his claws into the Kingdom Church, Pastor Nkosi is going to have to silence all other voices. So from Wednesday 15 June, we’ll see him start turning the church against Hlengiwe (Gugu Gumede). It’s going to be an epic battle between good and evil. Take us to church, Uzalo!
