Mulondo Mukwevho (Ndamulelo Mbuwe) is following in his ladyloving dad Chief Azwindini’s (Gabriel Temudzani) footsteps on Monday 6 March. The young teen develops his first real crush but just like with his dad, love won’t be simple. He’s fallen for an older woman and he is going to have drama wooing her…
COUGAR
Mulondo’s “cougar” is 20-something Dee (Ndivhuwo Mudau), who’s friends with Mulondo’s new stepmom Mpho (Azwimmbavhi Rammbuda). Dee calls herself a “Vendashian” [a play on the Kardashians – see p9] – she loves luxury, money and fashion. Muvhango creative director Tessa Made explains that “the storyline of Mulondo chasing an older woman is meant to be fun and lighthearted and spotlight the younger royals”. What follows is a comedy of errors as Mulondo schemes how to get his girl without raising royal outrage.
MAKING MOVES
Mulondo sends Dee what his thinks are cute SMSes on Wednesday 8 March. The messages contains poetry and Dee can’t help but wonder who her admirer is, although Mulondo’s to shy to admit that it’s him, so he comments that “it’s one of the Mukwevhos”. Tessa adds that “Dee gets excited and thinks it’s from an older Mukwevho and she asks if they can meet up later”.
IT’S A DATE
Mulondo continues his anonymous flirting and SMS-asks her out on Friday 10 March. “It’s sweet because he is so excited but he knows that if the royal court finds out, he’ll be in trouble. This type of love won’t be approved of,” says Tessa. Despite his hormones being out of control, Mulondo considers doing “the right thing” and coming clean to Dee on Monday 13 March, but then he remembers how pretty she is and he holds back. In the meantime, the young royal gets a part time job to save up for his date and buy his loveinterest cute trinkets. If only he knew that his efforts will be in vain.
