Vince softens Cecile
Vince claims victory to see his son, but not after a night in jail.
Wednesday 26 April is D-Day for Vince (Jacques Blignaut) and he will find out if he can play a part in his son Christopher’s (Jiphtael Langeveldt) life. The judge prepares to deliver her verdict after mediation failed in mid April when Vince couldn’t reach a compromise with Christopher’s mom Cecile (Chantal Stanfield) and it’s not going to sit well with Vince.
TESTIMONIAL TROUBLE
Cecile’s lawyer Lesedi (KB Motsilanyane) called Vivian ( Vinette Ebrahim, who also plays Vince’s stepmom Charmaine) to the witness stand on Tuesday 25 April. But instead of lashing out at Vince and costing him access to Chris, Vivian strangely only has good things to say about him and that confuses everyone, including Charmaine who’s told bluntly that “you owe me” as her twin walks out of court.
Unexpectedly, the judge upholds Cecile’s custody but Vince explodes as the verdict is read out. He lets rip with years of frustration of not seeing his son and the judge throws him behind bars to cool off overnight. Vince’s lawyer brother Xander (Theodore Jantjies) visits Cecile on Wednesday 26 April to appeal to her to let his brother see Christopher. Chantal says that after Cecile listens to Xander, she realises what she’s doing to her son and “she doesn’t want Christopher to blame her when he’s older and doesn’t have a relationship with the father who’s right there for him. That means she will lose him anyway”.
ACCESS GRANTED!
There’s double good news for Vince on Thursday 27 April – he’s freed and Xander tells him that Cecile is letting him see his son that same day. “He’s over the moon,” says Jacques. “It’s like his life suddenly makes sense and he has a newfound respect for Cecile after all they have been through. But there is someone who’s not all that pleased with this development – Vince’s wife Bonita (Hildegardt Whites). On Monday 1 may, Vince notices that she’s avoiding every chance to see Christopher “and it worries him,” says Jacques. “He realises that it’s difficult, as they don’t have kids and Chris is the product of a fling,” but is something else bothering her?
