Zitha’s left pining for Tau when he turns his back and runs.

Relationships usually work out when the people are honest with each other. That’s what Zitha (Zoe Mthiyane) had in mind when she confessed to her new boyfriend and business partner Tau (Rapulana Seiphemo) on Tuesday 23 May that she’s the daughter of his dead rival Zola (Mutodi Neshehe). “Tau doesn’t take it well,” explains Zoe. “Zitha tries to hold onto him but nothing works.” Not even her desperate grovelling to win him back on Friday 26 June.
Zitha hopes that Tau will take her back and she’s not giving up on that, but on Monday 29 May “he’s having none of it. Despite Zitha’s persistence, Tau wants nothing to do with her,” says Zoe. “He pushes her away at every chance.” Zitha knows that her father is a sore point for Tau because Zola married Tau’s wife Karabo (Connie Ferguson) in early 2016. Tau hated the fact that he was so incapable of keeping his wife happy that Karabo resorted to taking a second husband while still married to him. Tau doesn’t know that his business partner Jack Mabaso (Vusi Kunene) killed Zola before he could expose Jack’s dodgy development deal, but learning that Zitha is Zola’s daughter isn’t just a lie, it’s added heartbreak. “He feels betrayed. He thought she was someone he could trust,” says Zoe, who adds that “their relationship is real. Zoe really cares for Tau and wants to make things work”.
Tau can’t avoid Zitha forever. After all, he’s involved with her construction projects and on Friday 2 June, Zitha uses work as a reason to meet. “She hopes that she can convince him to take her back by rebuilding his trust through business,” says Zoe. While she puts on a brave face in Tau’s presence, Zitha’s struggling at home and leans on her sister Wandile (Chi Mhende). “Wandile has always supportive of her and continues to be Zitha’s sounding board,” says Zoe, adding that “we get to see a vulnerable side to strong Zitha that she hardly shows”.
Zoe hints that June will see “the past come knocking on the door” later in June and it could bring them back together or end it forever.
