Line Of Duty Season 4 Thursdays ITV Choice (*123) 20:00

Cop drama series Line Of Duty (2012current) is closing off its season 4 with a bang. Newcomer boss Roz (Thandie Newton) is facing the music for her role in cover-ups within the AC-12 department and Vicky McClure hints that her character Detective Superintendent Kate Fleming’s determination to stop corruption within the police force is going to push her higher up the pecking order.

Kate has had a busy season… Very much so. She was promoted to the same rank as Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and she’s been raring to go from day 1. She had a lot to prove in her new position and while her personal life is still up and down, it’s at least settled down. You do other shows in-between the season, so it easy to get back into cop mode? She’s quite an easy character to get into as she’s so secure and settled in her job arresting criminals and using guns and being shot at [Laughs]. I love playing Kate because she’s bright and we’d be mates, but she scares me [Laughs]. She’s had a lot of interaction with DCI Roz Huntley too. From the get-go there was this false trust because Roz seemed like she genuinely cared about the job. We were all lulled into a false sense of security with her. What did Thandie bring to the team? Wow, where to being? She’s amazing and we had good laughs. She came in and was really just open to wanting to create a great character and we were as welcoming as we could make it for her. And have you ever thought about getting into forensics, like in the show? It’s interesting and makes for really intriguing drama, but it’s also a real challenge because of the technical dialogue.
