Just when Celia (Shoki Sebotsane) was getting used to a stress-free life e with her teacher hubby Alfred (Putla Sehlapelo), he goes off and buys an expensive car on Monday 10 July without consulting her first. Before their marriage in June 2016, Alfred was recovering from a divorce that left him broke. “It’s a beautiful car, I must admit, but they don’t need it – especially with two kids in varsity,” says Shoki. But Rachel and Nimrod (Lesego Marakalla and Buhle Maseko) are excited to welcome the new “baby” into their family. “Celia doesn’t want to be a party pooper but they are getting used to paying off their house every month and she doesn’t want Alfred to relive the poor past again,” explains Shoki.

TAKE IT BACK

The husband and wife usually see eyeto-eye but she’s frustrated when goes and he buys more jewellery and new clothes on Thursday 13 July. Unlike Alfred, Celia respects the value of the rand and “she knows what it’s like to have little to nothing. Celia has lived in poverty before and she can’t deal with Alfred’s reckless spending,” explains Shoki, whose character took on the responsibility as a single mom when her hubby Ben (Steven Mbedzi) died in October 2013. Celia is going anxious later that day and sees flashbacks of her past becoming a reality. “She had to adapt to living hand-to-mouth once upon a time and she can’t go back to that. All these unnecessary expenses are making her crazy,” laughs Shoki.

IT’S BETWEEN US

With Rachel going through a court trial for blackmailing her boss Lehasa (Cedric Fourie) on Friday 14 July, com-bined with the thoughts of bankruptcy, Celia’s stress levels reach an all-time high. While Celia foresees her comfortable life crashing down, Rachel tells her that Lehasa is dropping the charges against her and “it’s one less thing to worry about. Celia wants to keep the peace in her family,” says Shoki, but the happiness doesn’t last long – Celia and Alfred get into another argument when Lehasa visits the family a visit on Monday 17 July to clear the air and apologise for landing Rachel in jail. “Celia has bottled up her anger and it comes out when she least expects it. She can’t believe that Alfred isn’t listening to her advice and smells trouble,” warns the actress.
