Team Habitat’s Abiah Mahlase (A) and Bradley Muttitt (B) made first impressions count in the Win A Home segment on lifestyle show Afternoon Express (2015-current). “I wore a jacket that looked like a chandelier because either I’m in or I’m out. You either like the daring, the boldness and the difference or you don’t,” says Abiah. Brad adds, “We were wearing our own statement pieces. We wear it as everyday clothes”. They’re the faces behind the AMEN fashion label and have been inseparable since Abiah caught Bradley’s eye on registration day at London International School Of Fashion. Team Habitat promises to bring a lot of fun into the Win A Home competition.

What’s your secret weapon? B: We want to do everything we’re not allowed to do. One of the first things we were told is you can’t break down a wall, so that was the first thing we wanted to do – to make a bay window. How do you feel about beige carpets, walls and tiles? A: If you give us beige-beige-beige, we will mix it with a lot of gold-gold-gold. Beige on its own? It bores the… ja, no. You had eight days to decorate the guest room. How did you get a zebra in there? B: I asked guys from the street that do beadwork. A: They started from scratch. They were amazing! They pulled together four guys and they all got stuck in. With eight days, it felt like a rollercoaster just to sort out the table, let alone the rest of the room. But that’s like fashion. At the last moment, designers are like, “Yes, yes, fit her into the dress!” Finally, who’s the big spender? B: [Laughs] Abiah thinks the budget is as long as his hair.
